I play sax but I think using those very soft tones is more beautiful......
And a guy told me that's subtone. Can anyone here write me something about subtone? THX

A saxophone technique that is generally applied to section playing. Drop the jaw, regardless of sax size, and let the air alone keep the sound/ phrase going. The airflow should be as slow as possible whilst still allowing the phrase to speak. The tongue is right back on the palate like a semi staccato/ legato type of articulation, the sound PHWA is good. Open the throat right up and think of the sound HU or HOO. Definitely no vibrato! I have subtoned several times on this afternoons gig. Subtoning definitely works more effectively in a sax section with everybody thinking and listening, an ideal circumstance.
