[ I don't care about how you use capitalization in your handle, but I do on the Subject line. Please use "normal" capitalization on the subject line. It scans much easier than "wHiCh aRe tHe gOoD mOuThpiEcES?". ]
I need to know which type of mouthpieces are compatible with a buffet Rc and would like to know if the barrel affects the tone of the playing too? i know the tone depends very much on the mouthpiece and reed, but what about the barrel?

Well, any "normal" type of clarinet mouthpiece should be physically compatible with an RC. I suppose unless you get some sort of really exotic mouthpiece, it's not really about being compatible with the clarinet? Probably more likely what is more compatible to you, so just go test out mouthpieces to find out. Also, barrels make a big difference in tone, although usually the one that comes with the clarinet should be fine for most purposes.

If you're into coustom mouthpieces, I really reccomend David McClune mouthpieces. www.mcclunemouthpiece.com He's a great guy and some really great people are using his mouthpieces. I switched from a Greg Smith and a Chaddash/Hill mouthpiece to McClunes and won't go back any time soon.

I mght be wrong, but try Vandoren mouthpieces such as B-45 or "pine mouthpieces", which my clarinet teacher suggested me about and I have never tried it. However, I decided to stick with the B-45 for now because it's a bit cheaper.
Hope this explains it.

Try Richard Hawkins (www.richardhawkinsmouthpiece.com). Get a few to try out if you can. I've had mine (the "B" model) over a year now and have been absolutely delighted with it. They're a bit pricier than the stock Vandoren mouthpieces, but I find the cost well worth it.

I need a mouthpiece thats good for projection and volume for doing a marching band solo outdoors. I am currently using a Vandoren R5 lyre. Is there something that might be better?

The window size of a mouthpiece affects its loudness quite a bit. I have a Larry Combs LC3 that must have missed quality control altogether. It has a huge window that results in its also having thin rails, which make it very bright sounding. It has almost no resistance. I can play so loud and so bright that I can annoy anyone.
That's what to look for, or have made. A big window and thin rails. Just be careful of playing near big plate glass windows.
