Latley I have found it hard to play from the 4th highest (clarient playable) Eb and up. I'm not sure why, I did just recently switch to a vandoren 3 reed from a 2.5 (my sound quality is so much better), but the whole reason I switched was because I was sqweaking fast passages low and high (I didn't just go straight to 3 I have been working them in for about 6 months, untill now I find it hard to play on a 2.5) Anyways I found that I can play those notes using double lip, but not single lip, but when I play double lip everything sounds very unsupported, and very flat. So basically should I be playing double lip all the time untill I get my sound supported? and if so how do I get my sound supported doing double lip? Oh and I play on a very horrible Yhamaha 26II, and on a school mouthpiece and ligature (so basically no name brand) since my mouthpiece was severly damaged (I have been playing on the no name for about a year though)

I think you know the answer yourself, you can't win "Le Mans" driving a Fiat.

Fiat has won many a Le Mans race ... just not in Formula 1

yes but the thing is I was able to play them before on this setup, it has just been recent that the notes don't come out.

Mark, et, al--Maybe I mispoke. The Fiat I had in mind was the two-lunger I used to drive in Spain. Didn't even think anybody who was anybody would REALLY drive one (even bigger). Like an R-13?

If double lip works and single lip has problems, then it would seem that at least part of the problem is that you have developed a tighter and tighter single lip embouchure. No?

No need to play on double lip all the time, unless you want to. You have to find that happy spot in the single lip. Experiment with taking in different amounts of mouthpiece and make sure that it's the air making the reed vibrate, and not the squeezing of your reed.
