 low F

I've been running through Fernando Silveira's arrangement of Tico Tico No Fuba, posted in the resource pages. The two (soprano) clarinet parts run occasionally down to the F below the staff. What's the deal? My clarinet doesn't go down there. Or am I supposed to whip out that rolled newspaper?

thanks,
John

are you talking about F3, or F2?
F3 is a regular note on the clarinet.

I performed that arrangement recently at a recital and it was very well received. (The rules of our recital explicitly forbade rolled newspaper. ;-) )

I think you made a typo - it actually goes to D below our lowest E in a few places. We just played the D an octave higher. It goes by so fast that the substitution works well.

We really enjoyed playing it. I hope you do too.

My mistake, yes I meant D. (I have been known to write out several pages of transposed music before realizing it was in the wrong direction.)

I have yet to hear this arrangement played as written, but I'm looking forward to it. Many thanks to Mr. Silveira for making it available.

John
