Yes, it was loads of fun at the festival, first one in Taiwan. The Magic Quartet of Taiwan organized the event, and they invited quite a few very famous clarinetists to take part in the event. Robert Spring, Dominique Vidal, and Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr were invited there, and 2 very prominent Asian clarinetists, Wei-Leng Chen and Fan Lei. There were a series of master classes at the festival, and also a few lectures about reeds and the manufacture of clarinets. Every night, one of the guest clarinetists would put on a concert for everyone, showing off their skills and inspiring all of us. Most amazing of all was Robert Spring, who showed off his double tonguing in Flight of the Bumblebee, and his circular breathing in all this other solos. All the other clarinetists also put on amazing performances. For a first festival, it wasn't too shabby. The website for the festival is at http://www.magic-clarinet.idv.tw/, but it's all in Chinese. I'm also posting 2 pictures that were taken, one of me and Robert Spring, and one of Dominique Vidal. I sure hope that they organize it again next year.
