My question is in the subject.
Also, can someone tell me specifically what refacing entails? I know it's an alteration to your mouthpiece, but what do you say to the repairman if you want this doing?

A Zinner blank is an unfinished mouthpiece made by, wait for it, Zinner. They need to be faced. Refacing is repairing a damaged facing or altering one. For further clarification the facing is the table where the red sits and the curve up to the tip. The facing is measured in 2 ways, firstly the tip opening and then the length or amplitude of the curve.

OK...here goes. ONCE UPON A TIME IN A GALAXY (in France and elsewhere...)
...... there were a few blessed elves that created a mouthpiece out of a material that came from the Gods. THe elves were named Kaspar, Chedeville, Bettoney, Sneezey, Grumpy...oopps. well u get the idea.
The Gods of commerce and public safety got angry, and took the material away.
Others have since sought the Holy Grail....Zinner being one of them.
Elves buy the blanks and fashion mouthpieces out of them ....some elves strive for immortality...Smith, Grabner, Hawkins, Doc, Lomax etc. The elves face and bore out and voice and tweak and tickle...til the ultimate sound is achieved.
Others dieties also create blanks...Chadash being one, who has a personal elf named Hill...and there is Babbitt & Costello, some named Bay who is hard to get to, Meyer, and some afar in the Orient.
Legend says that great wealth and honor will come to the man/woman who attains the Holy Grail. Are you game????
