I’ve taken the blood oath and am now the owner of an R-13.
After months of searching and deciding, I finally went with a five-year-old R-13 from the classifieds right here. I figured with my solely amateur status and the new Honda we just bought for my w ife, going used was the most sensible route. So the silver-plated R-13 on the classifieds seemed to fit the bill. The seller was very helpful and assured me, in terms that verified he knew what he was talking about, that the intonation was great and the o verall condition was superb. And when it arrived this past Saturday, I was very pleased. Best of all, the key action is nice and light (great considering the silver plating, which in past experience has meant stiffer keys). I’m looking forward to making t his baby sing and making my dog run for cover.
Now the R-13 Prestige my patriotic band issued me can go back to them and at last I’m free -- though I’ll still continue with them when they need me.
So now that I’m in This Thing Of Ours, do I need to kick a weekly vig up to someone?
--Ralph
(PS - I'm a cheat, though -- my A clarinet is a Leblanc and my backup/outdoor horn is a Signet/Selmer).

it's not what you play, but how you play.
