 Auguste Buffet clarinet s/n 165
Author: Pat Parkin

Can anyone suggest the age of a clarinet marked "AUGUSTE BUFFET PARIS" with harp and star markings and serial number 165? I assume the serial number list here is for Buffet Crampon instruments and not Auguste Buffet ones.

Thanks,

The New langwill Index doesn't date these particular marks.

From what I've read, I believe Auguste was a frequently-used first and middle name in the long-line of Buffets. Baines, "Woodwind Instruments and Their HISTORY" with Rendall, for dates, may be of help to you. Also Mark's Langwill info should be useful in your search. Luck, Don
