 Mouthpiece...

My band director had Vandoren mouthpieces in his office, and told us they were up for grabs... So I took one, and I know nothing about it. It plays decently, but I almost like my 20$ generic one... It's a Vandoren 5RV... and after the 5RV there's a little symbol (looks like a lyre? LOL). Anyone have any experience with this mpc? What kind of reeds/ligature should I use?

Also, if anyone knows of a website with Blues Scales for alto sax, I'd really appreciate it. I double on alto, and need to start working on improv... Thanks! :)

A nice mouthpiece... I used mine for about 5 years before switching to a Richard Hawkins.

I had good luck with a Rovner ligature and Vandoren V12's.

I've found the 5RV-Lyre to be an excellent esay blowing all around mouthpiece.
For Blues scales and more try: http://www.jazclass.aust.com/scablu.htm
