This may sound strange, but Have you thought about asking your normal repairman if there's anyone that he/she recommends? they shouldn't be offended, because you came to them first, and they just couldn't get you in. Just a suggestion....

Been there, Done that!. He does not know of anyone "within about 150 miles"... And he handles ALL the schools in that area. Good job opportunity for someone! Bob A

Bob,
Guess I'll tell the Wife, we're Movin' to Iowa! (Reminds me of the Frank Zappa song about movin' to Montana to start a dental floss farm.......).

Are you near Davenport? My Aunt is a bassoonist and repair person there. She's fixed my clarinet before and done a really great job.

Kepharts in Decora used to be good. There is a guy in Davenport named Denny Lawson who does Maurita Meads Repair work.

NW Corner of Iowa. Spencer 26 miles west. Estherville 26 miles north, Algona 26 miles east. Fort Dodge 68 miles south. Come and move Dave, I'll buy your donkey a bale of hay.

Thanks for the generous offer, Bob! I'd do it, but our donkey is special, he only eats Chicken Cordon Bleu --- so it might stretch your budget a bit too far.
Tell me, GBK, am I getting a tad off-topic here? Just wonderin'........

Speaking of Davenport, I was there for the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival at the end of July. Did anyone else go?

Pete -
I was at the Bix, too . . . Perhaps one of us should start a thread about all the jazz clarinetists there!

Found two in Mason City, Ia. The one I selected "Bells Repairs" is upstairs over "Reimans Music". 13 Federal Ave. S., Mason City. For starters he is going to take a shot at building up the thumb-rest, away from the body to about the same "depth" that my Bass thumb-rest is. That will alter the wrist angle. Hope that works.
