The ones that play best for you. We all have our reed preferencies, but our choices are based on how a particular brand suites or playing needs--and as we are all "different", we have lots of needs and therefore, opinions on what is best. And most likely, none of us are 100% right. Since you have a particular mpc in hand, it might be advisable to use a reed whose tip best matchs the tip and window of that piece. Beyond that, you just ned to try as many different reed brands as you can, and simply see what works best.

I use VanDoren V12s, 3.5-4.0 because they work for me. GBK will "stomp all over" VanDoren reeds and recommend Gonzales FOFs, which I do not particularily like. Others will have other recommendations based upon their playing experiance. Read our input, accept as much information as you care to, and then give some brands a try. Your search will be at least interesting, if not endless--I speak from experiance...............

What William has said is quite true.
Vandoren? Gonzalez? What to do?
Just try a few brands,
Pick one that withstands.
It's not a judicial review.

Of course there is no denying,
Frustration may cause some crying.
Andrei Gromyko?
He played a Rico.
His reeds the State was supplying. ...GBK

Gromyko was known as "Grim Grom".
He thus had no date on his prom.
His clarinet style was eclectic,
though somber and yet dialectic.
Was it Rico where all this came from?

(Or was it his musical mom?)

The search for reeds is a neverending quest-
There are so many to choose from-who's the best?
I like Vandoren, Grand Concert, and even Glotin
I hear Gonzalez is better-time to go shoppin'.
Just one more box to try before I can rest!

We all curse and scream about cane.
It's not worth the time to complain.
If you pull out your hair,
In those times of despair.
You soon will be buying Rogaine ...GBK
