I saw a very VERY tempting book in a music store in NYC the other week. It was a small collection of Artie Shaw solos, written out, with piano accompaniment. It looked like it definitely would have been Shaw's actual concert material (judging by the leaps and style and the notes marked "slow gliss"). The only reason I didn't buy it was cause I don't know any piano players either with the commitment to practice and possibly perform with me or that were good enough to play the piano parts.
In your opinion, is it worth buying knowing that it may be a VERY long time before it gets played with accompaniment or should I wait till I find accompaniment? Thanks.

It sounds like a great find. I would buy it without hesitation. There is no shortage of piano players.

If you pick it up, as a courtesy, please post the title, publisher and ISBN number. If it was me I would've snatched it up literally in a New York minute. Who needs the piano player, working up any of Artie's old transcribed solos would be a hoot! v/r Ken

YES, I concur w: Hans and Ken, I'm still an A S admirer, have never heard-of/seen this collection! It may be an out-of-print "left-over" and very hard to find! Copying-off solos from records/tapes is difficult/lengthy, and may not be Artie's favorite licks! Grab it, at least for the four of us !! Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Slight change of subject, Mark - Ken et al, our comm. band's best [teaching] cl'ist asked me last nite if " the Rose Etude 4 with the Arban? trumpet music" was available anywhere. This is unfamiliar to me , so any and all help will be appreciated in a search. We "tried" the Rosenkavalier last nite, beautiful music, quite difficult for us at least in places, will be fun working on it. Again, our TKS. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Buy it, buy it, buy it. So what if you never play it with an accompanist. Which book is this? I bought a book that is very old that was published by Robbins on ebay several years ago. They are hard to come by.
