Hiroshi -

I believe Games Galway uses instruments made by The Flutemakers' Guild in Britain. I have read that he bought a lot of gold when the price was low and had a fairly large number of flutes made of it. A friend who played with him several years ago said that the instrument he usually plays, with a jewel inset into the head joint cap and lots of fancy engraving, is definitely from The Flutemakers' Guild.

Best regards,

Ken Shaw

Ken:
1)Please see "Stolen and lost" in Larry Kranz HP:
http://user.uniserve.com/~lwk/welcome.htm
He was stolen four 14K and one 9K gold Muramatsu.
So anyway he had Muramatsus.I heard he now plays Pratinum
Muramatsus.Very big tones.Needs big power.
2)Mr.Albert Cooper was a craftman himself and had been
living in UK.
I wonder he had belonged to Flutes Guid UK,I do not know.
However I read Galways high evaluation in his book
"Flute".In his book he dedicated one chapter to Albert
and he detailed how Cooper systems had been invented.
3)Galway seems to be fond of engraving and jewels on the
corkheads on his flutes.
I guess he has 'many' flutes since he plays all over the
world with differently pitched orchestras.
Among Japanese manufacturers only Muramatsu can offer
very wide range of pitch selections(440-445Hz).
See this Muramatsu headquater HP in English.
http://www.globe.or.jp/muramatsu/e-menu.htm

But anyway I don't know him personally.Sorry for any misconceptions.
