I am desparately trying to find a good orchestral excerpt book for clarinet. So far I have seen two that I like. The first was Bonade's Orchestra Studies. The second comes in eight volumes and is Orchestral Excerpts and is published by the International Music Company. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to order any of them because stores are having a hard time ordering them from foreign publishers. Does anyone know where or how I could get one?

Beware of the International. There are mistakes in those - make sure you get them corrected.

There are also some nice orchestral part books published by Alfred Co. They have the complete first clarinet parts to composers like Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Mozart, and more. I personally like the complete parts myself- there are no mistakes and you can learn the whole part. I also came across another book that is very handy. It is called "The Working Clarinetist" by Peter Hadcock. It is only $40 (it has 218 pages!) and also commentary on how to approach certain excerpts and much more. It has common excerpts as well as random ones, like Bartok's "The Miraculous Mandarin." In my opinion, I think this book is very helpful.

The Bonade has many of the same mistakes. And the IMC books have some of the foot note numbers that are in the Bonade and have no relation to the full orchestral parts.
