how can i increase my tounging speed, i need to single tounge relatively fast and im struggling with it. what are some things i can do to increase my tounging speed?

Some calisthenic work would help. Repetitive training ie. repeated patterns on scale degrees will help get the speed up. Repetitive up and down scales or scale patters for tongue/ finger co-ordination. Rest is as important as the practise. The tongue is basically a muscle or group of muscles and can be trained as an athlete would train. The musical application is the more difficult aspect.

Sometimes the problem is not the tongue itself, but failure to mantain breath support, especially during a rapid passage where the student's attention may be focussed on on other aspects of technique.

I think that we are all born with either a fast tongue, or not. You simply have to practice strengthening your tongue muscle and developing your coordination and technique to discover what your personal limit is. (this may take years) After that, if you discover you tongue just won't go that fast, consider multiple tonguing skills--double and triple. You can find much info regarding these via a search.

Are you struggling because of your mouthpiece?? Also, do you consider your mpc/clarinet combination to be rather resistant or is it easy to produce the tone? For me, a resistanct combination made it more difficult to do fast tongue work.
As for the mpc, I have read where the beak of the mpc needs to be very thin for best articulation.
I personally have noticed that certain mouthpieces are easier to do a fast stacatto than others.
Perhaps you should try another mouchpiece???
