I was wondering if there's really any difference between the blackmasters and the new 56 reeds... wasn't the Vandoren company just trying to make blackmasters that would fit on all mouthpieces? If not, I'll go order the 56 reeds from Muncy right away :-D Oh, and what strength would correlate with a 3 1/2 blackmaster? They don't have any charts w/ blackmasters on them... thank ya!

Discount Reed Co. (a sponsor of this site) says that Black Masters are approx. 1/2 harder than the V12s. I was thinking about buying a box of Black Masters myself . . . I think the 56s are still a little too pricey to warrant a try.

Everytime I tried to get reeds of my fav. strength on the Muncy order page I got a message saying it couldnt be processed. I reckon there are no 4s ,
4.5s available.
Mebbe i gots to go the 56 Rue Lapeau and get em moi-selffe
(pardon moi a lil' bit of cartoon humor there)

I hope you have an Austrian mouthpiece something like a VD4 or 5. It has a shorter facing and is a bit narrower but not as marked as a German mouthpiece (White Masters are made for these).
