Since the clarinet is a wind instrument - how about some ideas - concepts regarding air support?
Some subscribe to "squeezing" the air out - some subscribe to whatever feels natural and some feel less air is good and speed is the important thing. If speed is important then how does one obtain speed with the breathing apparatus. Tongue placement can increase of decrease air speed but how about the breathing apparatus?

Do not confuse velocity with volume or pressure when researching this topic. Also consider the resistance of the aperature....the instrument and its inlet...the mpc/reed combination.

I recommend the thoughts of Antony Pay in (amongst others) The Cambridge Companion to the Clarinet for down-to-earth and well-thought-out advice on breathing.
