Looking for some information to respond to another thread, I went to George Klimowicz' site, "Music by Sunset," this morning. I hadn't been there in several months. Those of you who know the site know that it has been in operation for some years now and had literally thousands of midi files of music for clarinet, including almost all of the major solo works. It also had a number of files of woodwind quintet music. Access was originally free, then required a $5 subscription, then, more recently, a $20 subscription.
When I reached the site this morning, I was greeted by the following message:
"Thank-you again for your interest and support for this web site, but sorry to say it is no longer possible to keep it in operation."
There's no indication whether the reason for shutting down the site was financial, copyright (many of the works were still under copyright) or something else.
Given the state of scanning technology, I've always marvelled at how George created all those files. IMHO, his site was a valuable resource. Now it's apparently gone.
Best regards,
jnk

JJiimm- http://www.classicalarchives.com/ Free but not nearly the same clarinet selection. Also, try the MIDI section of this site.
Cheapskate that I am, I used Music by Sunset a lot back when it was free....
