TKS for the invite! I've had a bit of "ill wind" experience, will be glad to chime [or squack] in. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Oboe players are just not as obsessive about reeds or instruments perhaps?

I forwarded the address to several, but its a pity that had little effect. It amazes me, as oboists are so neurotic and stressed you would have thought they would have unloaded everything onto a bulletin board. Perhaps they are too shy, and we are more forthcoming.

lets just focus a bit on the maths.......
ratio stuff?
standard symphonic band, wind orchestra etc.
15 clarinets to 1 or 2 oboist
orchestras, large or standards
4 to 2 or 2 to 1 (varies but usually so)
but still......

Oboists are a breed unto their own, bless 'em. And, in general, I find they never get involved in the tedious orchestral politics their violing playing cousins do - IMHBO
