i picked up a couple of samples of this new product at the fest. It is one of the best reeds (that i have tried) out of the box. i checked with a couple of sellers and no one has them in stock yet. also they didn't know the price.
they should be available in a couple of weeks.
you may want to check them out.
if anyone knows the price please let me know.t

all i can say is that they were easy to play, and they produced a nice, sweet sound.
on the high notes the dog didn't howl. what else can one say.

Well, at least the first few lots should be good. Coming out with a new product and having it flop would be devastating. I'm sure they left nothing to chance. When you introduce a new product, especially when you are behind the 8-ball as (imho) Vandoren is you need 5 things;
1) A good product. (As good, preferably better than your competition)
2) Lots of marketing hype.
3) Must come out in a large quantity. (They have to make it available to everyone. ("What’s the point if you can't get'em.))
4) Back it up with some decent customer service.
5) Reasonable pricing.

Let's see how they do, after all, we do have front row seats.

Hey! Down in front!

Vandoren has already failed at Mark's third point: strength #2.5 reeds are not available (even at 56 r. Lepic HQ)!

From the Vandoren website (www.vandoren.com):
Available in strengths: 2,5/3/3,5/3,5+/4/5

does anybody know why the span of the strengths is so small compared to the other vandoren reeds? According to the Vandoren reed chart, the strengths (2.5-5) fit between 2.5 and 4.5 on regulars and 2.5 and 4.25 on V-12s.... this chart is available on the Vandoren website under "products".

Anybody know why they would knowingly limit the strengths like this? I currently use a V-12 4.5 (on a really closed mouthpiece), so from the chart it looks like the 56 might not even come in a strength hard enough for me... Just curious

sorry. I read the chart wrong... the regular vandorens span of 56 is between 2.25 and 4. The 2.5 and 4.5 I mentioned above was for GCS. My bad!
