Ok i didnt put ne ebay links this time so you'll have to go to it on the site to see if you want ( I hope this doesn't get me in trouble lol) ok just curioius i this horn is as good as the Bb Evette and Shaeffers this is the first one ive seen in ebay its near the end of the list. and would yo bid on it if you needed an A for a good price or just get an R13 thanx

ah yes i almost forgot is the M. Pierre bell a different bell or is it some promotional thing buffet issued thanx

I came across this listing last night. Frankly, I am skeptical about the accuracy of the seller's identification for two reasons:
1. The Evette logo is apparently only on the barrel. While the pictures are inconclusive, there don't apprear to be any labels on either of the two joints. These would be far more definite identification of the maker and, if I were selling the instrument, I would want to make sure to show them if they were present. Ordinarily, an Evette Sponsored by ... model has a label on at least the upper joint. A barrel (and/or) a bell could easily be a replacement chosen from a box of "remnants" because its socket fit a tenon.
2. I don't believe the serial number is from a standard series for this model. As far as I can tell, the earliest "Evette Sponsored by" clarinets had no prefix on their serial number (I have one of these). Later wooden models had a C-prefix and some plastic models had an H-prefix (if my memory serves). While it may exist, however, I have never seen an MT- prefix on a Buffet instrument. The "Sponsored by ..." Evettes were made over a period of 30 years or more, though, so other serial numbers are certainly possible.
The instrument may be an Evette but, IMO, it is more likely a "Pierre" (whatever that is) or a total mongrel, than an Evette. The seller would need considerable evidence to convince me otherwise.
As far as I can tell from eBay info, the seller is honest but I'm not convinced he has enough experience to make an accurate call. On the other hand, Buffet was making Evette A clarinets at least by 1968 (the approximate date of a catalog I have which indicates their availability) and, at least as far as I can see in the pictures, the keywork looks alot like Buffet keywork.
If the clarinet is an Evette, it was made before 1963. According to the Buffet serial number list at www.musicgroup.com, Buffet introduced the D- series that year. The D-series has a redesigned label with EVETTE at the center and no "Sponsored by Buffet." That makes it a very old (read old design) student model. From what I have seen written over the years and from limited personal experience, the D-series instruments are far more desirable than their predecessors. Presently (somewhat to my surprise) the bidding on this instrument has already passed $400. IMHO, that's already too high.
