I am in search of an A clarinet and I was just looking at my options. Now it is my understanding that Leblanc's newest clarinet is the Concerto II. Well I am wondering why I just got such a low price quoted to me from wwbw. They emailed me a price of 1899 dollars. Now their price for the opus is much different. Can someone maybe tell me why this price is pretty low and what are the differences between the opusII and concertoII. Thanx!
p.s I am not asking which one is better for I would not want to start an ugly argument. Just the differences!

Hi.
I got my Bb concerto II for about $1600. So I guess the price is reasonable? So its slightly more expensive as its a A clarinet?

Actually WWBW lists both the Concerto II in Bb and A for the same price if I'm not mistaken, because I got emails stating they were both $1899.

This is what I've been told by vendors and repair folks and excuse my lack of proper terminology. When the II models came out they changed the mechanics of the keywork. I was told it is the same basic mechanics used in the R-13. The Concerto II's also had a key shape change from the Concerto and an adjustable bridge.
Between the Opus and Concerto, the Opus of course has the additional Ab-Eb 18th key, silver key work and there are some tonal differences claimed. I play an Opus A and a Concerto Bb and both are very nice instruments.
As far as pricing, there are a multitude of factors; overstock, special promotions by the factory, early season pricing, who knows. But if you can purchase a Conerto II-A for the same price as a Bb, then consider it your good luck because historically the A's are more expensive.
