Hi all,
I bought one of those "GIG" backpack clarinet cases for my daughter. They are built quite well. The clarinet "nest" has room for 1 Bb clarinet with space for an extra barrel. The clarinet fits nice and snug in the nest. It is about 16 inches high and 10.5 inches wide and about 7 inches thick (all measurements taken at the tallest, widest, thickest points). Seems to be made of a canvas like material that is very wear and tear resistant. The backpack straps are securely attached. I guess we will see how well it holds up to life with my daughter. If anyone is curious I could send pictures to Mark so you all can check it out for yourselves. I am not endorsing this product in any way, just providing info for anyone that wants to know.
Best Regards
Mark

Cool...Mark J, is it a soft-sided or a hard-sided case? How much does it weigh?
The interior reminds me of my BAM XLight case, which is a soft-sided case. The inside of the BAM is some sort of "memory foam" or something. What's the stuff like on the inside of the GIG case? Is it squishy/firm/etc.?
Thanks,
Katrina

Katrina,
It is a soft-sided case. It weighs about 1-2 pounds (best guess, but it is very light) As far as foam it seems to be firm closed-cell foam with a canvas-like black covering. (You can squeeze it, but it is quite firm.) My daughters Buffet C12 fits snugly in the case. It could probably protect a clarinet during a bouncing fall down a flight of stairs. My impression anyway. Any other questions /picture requests? I will be more than happy to help.
Best Regards
Mark
