Hi,
In my well documented quest to find accompaniments for my clarinet playing I've been directed towards a programme called "Smartmusic".
Do any of you know of it ??? Use it maybe ???
Is it as good as it sounds I wonder ?????
It seems to be intended for helping with their practice but it would appear that maybe I could use it for those elusive accompaniments I'm after so that when I play to my old folks I don't have to be "Billy no-mates" and play alone !!!!!
Any thoughts ???
Thanks
Sue

Sue ... I just visited their website (what DID we do befor the internet??) and it looks like a very "hip" version of Music-minus-One ... you are probably WAY to young to have heard of this ...

Thanks for your replies.
Can you tell me is it possible to record the practice backing tracks without yourself on them ?
That's what I'm really looking for in a programme.
Thanks
Sue

PS
I live in the UK - does that mean I can't get the Smartmusic microphone for my clarinet I wonder ?????? Only it says to contact local dealer and the phone number given appears to be in the US. Would defeat some of the great benefits of the programme if I can't get the mic I suspect.

Did you look at the Dowani series? There has been mention of this in past posts and Dowani have a web-site.

I use it quite frequently in my teaching. It still is not a substitute for a good accompanist, but about the next best thing.

Jbutler uses this program with his students - I'd love to hear from others who have had students use SmartMusic or another program. Obviously the live accompanist is irreplaceable but either they're not available when you are or the cost is prohibitive to practice together very often.
Any experiences with the benefits and/or downsides of using such a program? Seems like it would beat the pants off of the old Music-Minus-One vinyl records of long ago.
