Will he be subbing in with the Met or will he actually be their new principal clarinetist?

Jon is currently doing "La Boheme" on Broadway, and American Ballet Theatre. He begins his time at the Met in June sometime, and he will be a replacement for Ricardo's one year leave of absence. It's not a permanent appointment, unfortunately.

It is not a permanant appointment with the met but has a strong possibility of becoming permanant. He is a fantastic clarinetist.

Anyone have any idea of how old Manasse is? I get the impression that relatively young.

Jon Manasse is ageless! As a good friend, I can't reveal his age, but suffice it to say, he's older than he looks. He's married to a fine cellist, and has two beautiful children. He lives in NYC in a recently renovated apartment on the Upper West Side.
He's looking forward to his Met job, but doesn't know who will fill in for Joe Rabbai, who is retiring in the Fall. He plans to continue at Ballet Theatre and continue his teaching at Eastman, but sadly, his gig at "La Boheme" on Broadway ends on June 29.

The Met will have to call and audition won't they? Isn't that the Union way?
