 mouthpiece caps for Bonade inverted?
Author: SuzyQ

A real quick question, to which I hope there is a simple answer:

Is there a mp cap avaible that fits over the D. Bonade inverted ligature?

I really want to be able to cap my mouthpiece at honor bands(on breaks and such)to protect my reed and mouthpiece, but I have yet to see a mp cap that fits over my D. Bonade inverted.

Much gracias,

Kezzie

Yikes! I just looked at wwbw ( sorry, I should have done that before I asked) and they sell caps made for the Bonade inverted lig, however they are $14 bucks! I'm not planning on spending that much just for a cap! ( Am I being unreasonable?)

D Dow, where can you buy the bossey & hawkes clarinet student caps and how much are they aprox.? I looked on wwbw, but didn't see them there.

Maybe I'll just have to deal with no cap, cause, I'm not spending $14 for one. :) I'd rather buy reeds!

I went to my local repairman/music store and he had a boxful of miscellaneous caps. We just kept trying them until we found a black plastic one that fits. It wasn't meant for an inverted, but it works great and even seems to "snap" on so that it doesn't fall off. It cost me $2.

......the ones they provide with the Rovners don't work that well either...especially the most expensive Ed Daniels model

I have always used a standard cap and it fits fine. You may wish to spend the money on the bonade cap if you want it to be made to fit. It is still a lot cheaper than a new mouthpiece!

Hmm.. that's odd. My " standard" cap does not fit for anything.

I use a black plastic "el cheapo" special.

I think it's really an Alto Sax cap...

But it works FAB on my inverted Bonade...

Just go to a music store/repair shop and see what they've got that fits...

The cheap black plastic one from my alto sax works perfectly...as Katrina says above.
