I am plagued by a persistant sore lip, not really the lip itself but just underneath where the reed is in contact with the skin, it seems to be some form of allergy to the reed, anybody else suffered like this? Any remedies out there?

Not me, but.....maybe your fingers are contaminating the reed. Many people today have forgotten the need to wash their hands.
