I've posted before about my satisfaction with 2 Pom GG's [old], the best of quite a few Bass cl mps Ive tried. DS refaced a #1, its quite similar to my #3, quite open, both play well for comm band and musicals work. I use soft 1 1/2 -2 1/2 reeds, SR and Rico Royal TENOR SAX, as most of my parts are chalameau/throat, not much clarion, almost never above the staff [thats for Bb's]. My bass is a Selmer-Paris 31-33 [1970s] low Eb. Have seen very few low D/Cs, many Ebs! Would have to look in catalogs for modern terminology [Diamond/ Emerald??], would prefer mellow/dark so as to NOT sound like an extended-range tenor sax, the bari's [same tone range] have a diff sound! You may get more [and pro] opinions via the Yahoo bass-clarinet group. Try all mps you can. Luck, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

I love my pomarico HB... a special facing that you have to get from Henri Bok... if u want his email, i can give it to you.
it is by far the best bass clarinet mouthpiece i have ever played on and I have played on a LOT of mouthpieces. It has an even sound throughout the solist range and a very singing tone.
I play marca excel 3-3.5 tenor sax reeds, with a winslow ligature.
feel free to ask me any ?'s about my set up.
good luck
ciao

A girl who takes lessons from the same instructor as I do plays bass cl most of the time and said that her favorite mpc was her Pomarico . . . until she dropped it. She didn't say what facing she had or what reed she used, but she did say that it was her favorite and made her bass play "like butter!"

For a few years now I've been playing a slightly-refaced Mitchell Lurie Premium crystal mouthpiece (made by Pomarico) on bass clarinet. Although it didn't play quite the way I like "out of the box", it did come closer than most stock mouthpieces and required less refacing than the majority of bass clarinet mouthpieces I've tried, so you could consider that as an endorsement, I suppose.......

Good to hear I'm not the only one that loves Pomarico. Don't play bass(used to)....but the Crystal Diamond I use on my Bb is absolutely perfect.
Would recommend these to anyone.
