there's some book i saw a few years ago by ethan sloane. it was a collection of some "big" chamber works for clarinet liek the weber, brahms, and mozart quintets, kegelstatt, etc.

anyone know more about this book? does it include the violin, viola, and cello parts also?

where can I find more info/buy this book? i've looked all over for it but cant find it.

It has just the clarinet part.
I love it although I think you shoud get the actual "original" parts. The music is heavily marked and I am not sure the original text is preserved.
Nevertheless the Wrights marking give great insight on interpretation and help quite a lot in approaching a new piece.

The following appears in the ICA Research Library, http://www.lib.umd.edu/PAL/SCPA/BI.html :

Brahms, Johannes
Sonata in F Minor, Op. 120, No. 1
San Antonio, TX: Southern c1994
cl, pno
score (40p.), part
Ed: Ethan Sloane & Ruth Wright
4821

The library also contains:

Brahms, Johannes
Complete First Clarinet Parts to Johannes Brahms' Major Orchestral Works
Bloomington, IN: Wind Music c1970
cl
score (115p.)
Compiled by Philip Farkas & Milan Yancich
4130

Is there something else?

I'm sure lots of people would be interested in Wright's markings. Sylvain -- please give more information (title, publisher, stock number).

Best regards.

Ken,
The stuff I have is published by Southern Music Company and edited by Ethan Sloane and Ruth Wright.

They have:

CONCERTO IN A K. 622, Mozart/Wright/Sloane, Gr. 5 (SU320) 25.00

SONATA NO. 1, Brahms/Wright/Sloane, Gr. 5 (SU229) 20.00
SONATA NO. 2, Brahms/Wright/Sloane, Gr. 5 (SU230) 20.00

and the chamber stuff we are talking about:
Collected Chamber Music for Clarinet
A new volume in the Harold Wright Legacy Series, these are complete clarinet parts for chamber music works by Mozart, Beethoven, Weber, Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. Edited by Edith Sloane, based on Wright's personal editions housed in the Mugar Library at Boston University. Southern Music, B-543, $25.00.

I have all of them except the Mozart and it really is insightful, some markings are confusing but it's great overall.
