I normally put away my clarinet in the case when I am done practicing. I take the reed off the mpc and leave the ligature on. What I wonder about is, should the cap be put on? Should the clarinet even be put in the case and the case shut if there is moisture still in the barrel and mpc? No amount of swabbing or shaking will get it dry. Is it smart to put a cap on the mpc? Is it smart to keep the clarinet in its case?

After I practice, I do put the clarinet back into the case but I don't close it for an hour or so, so that the remaining moisture can evaporate. After a gig, I have no choice and I have to close the case. But as soon as I get home, I open the case for some time for the same reason.
I don't see why you shouldn't put the cap on the mouthpiece in either case. There will be enough space for evaporation of the remaining moisture.

I do like Henry and when at home leave the case open for a while after playing. Storage in the case is for protection from damage from klutzes or dogs and cats or whatever.
It's a good idea to clean your mouthpieces occasionally to prevent bacteria from forming a colony in there. There are other threads on this in here.
