 Texas Bandmaster convention
Author: Ralph G

I'm thinking about popping up to San Antonio for a day to check out the Texas Bandmasters Convention in late July. I'll soon commence my search for a new R-13 Prestige (my wife got a new job so I'll soon be able to afford it!) and Music Group will be exhibiting there.

Any of my fellow Texans know if good deals and selections are available at this show?

Thanks for any help.s

TBA is not as large as TMEA. This is because there will not be exhibitors that are catering to elementary music, orchestra, and choir. The exhibitors will be set up that want to attract the band director's attention. This will include fund raisers, retailers, and the major instrument manufacturers will be represented. The best deals are usually struck on the last day, Tuesday this year. Exhibitors would rather sell than pack and ship. However, negotiations and sales must be made through a music dealer. The companies will not sell direct to the attendees.

I don't mean to be a git, but is there any particular reason you want an r-13 prestige?

I play one now, issued to me by a community patriotic band I'm in (a hand-me-down from a military band). But I'd like one of my own.

Anyway, my local music store doesn't carry anything in stock beyond student horns, so I'd like to go somewhere to try everything. Maybe I'll like something else better.a

John, are there any dealers on site, or is it best to make arrangements with a dealer beforehand to close it out for you?
