Jazz clarinetist Pete Fountain (72) is often mentioned in this forum, so I thought members might like an update on his current status. After a 26 year run, Pete recently closed his nightclub at the New Orleans Hilton. He will now be performing two nights a week at Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Although Pete hates to fly, he still does an occasional out-of-town concert. This Summer he will be appearing at the Britt Festival in Jacksonville, OR (July 25), at the Lake Tahoe Summer Music Fest in Tahoe City, CA (July 26), and at Montalvo in Saratoga, CA (July 27).
As a traditional jazz buff, my current favorites are Allan Vache, Chuck Hedges, and Bob Draga, but Pete Fountain will always have a special place in my heart. Over the decades, he inspired many youngsters to take up the clarinet, myself included. Keep on tootin’, Pete !

Pete was my initial influence as a kid. I have an autographed photo of him, he sent to me after writing him. Something I'll always treasure. Was back in the early 60s when he still wore a toupee. (and joked about it)
His style is all his own. Same with Artie. George Lewis. And Pee Wee.
AND.....72 ain't old yet.

Artie Shaw is old but Pete is still a kid. Even has his own teeth.

Pete Fountain ... sigh, oh that he would come to Australia (I can't see it happening with his aversion to flying). He is indeed inspirational player.
