Hi,
Just to say a big thank you to all of you who offered me advice about selecting a wooden horn - I've purchased a Leblanc Noblet in very good condition at a very reasonable price.
Will let you know how I get on with it when it arrives !
Thanks again for all your help - much appreciated.
Sue

Sue, you have made an excellent choice, congratulations and good luck. If you are not knowledgeable about maintenance maybe you might want to have a local technician check it out just so you don't struggle with something minor.

Great choice, Sue. Did you know Noblet is an old manufacturer of clarinets? Noblet was making clarinets before Mozart was born. You've made a good choice.

Best of luck with your new horn,

Mike Blinn

If you check out the Leblanc website, you will find that the company name was Noblet before it became Leblanc. Around 1900 or so, Noblet had no heirs so passed it on to Leblanc. Noblet was then maintained as a model name in honor of Mr. Noblet.

Sue - Leblanc are first class clarinets. You've made a wise and considered choice. I'm sure your new clarinet with become a good friend, too.

Sue,

My first new clarinet was a 1964 model Noblet. That with a Selmer HS** crystal mouthpiece helped to land me high up in ALL Region Band my junior and senior year in high school. Back then a clarinet was a clarinet and the difference was the player.

I still have that clarinet in my collection. Today it is even better. All cork pads except for the three large ones and a modern mouthpiece.

Is this the Leblanc mafia? What about the F.Arthur Uebel, Hammerschmidt or Oskar Adler mafia?
