HI
I JUST BOUGHT A BUFFET EVETTE CRAMPON CLARINET IN Bb, AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS WAS A GOOD INVESTMENT. IS THIS A STUDENT OR PROFESSIONAL CLARINET? ALSO, ABOUT HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO APPLY BOAR OIL TO THE WOOD? ANY OTHER GENERAL MAINTENANCE TIPS OR TECHNIQUES ARE MORE THAN WELCOME!
THANK YOU.

Clay...First, take off the "Caps Lock" on your keyboard....
The Evette is a solid intermediate clarinet. At the moment clarinet prices are depressed, so good deals are abundant.
The most important factor in choosing a clarinet is tuning. Did you check it with a meter?
As to oiling, that is still a personal decision which is debated on this board by both pros and amateurs alike. If you decide to oil your instrument, I would recommend looking into the products offred by "The Doctor", one of the sponsors of this site.
There is a great deal of information on the woodwind.org site. Look around and read. Also, use the search feature to find specific topics.
Good luck ...GBK

My only advice on oiling your new clarinet is to read the information that came with it ... Buffet should have given you a little booklet (similar) with care instructions.

If you use too much boar oil you might find this is a horn with horns. Sorry.
