Has anyone ever tried DEG barrels and/or bells? I am interested in purchasing a DEG bell, but I was wondering if they are better than standard Buffet bells.

I bought and used a DEG barrel for my old Buffet RC.
Here is info:
1)Its main purpose is to get rid of intonation change by
the barrel warming by giving many side fins.
2)Exactly same size of bore with the clarinet mustr be
selected.
3)To adjust barrel length they come with plate like
washers.
4)To my dissapointment,they are made for intonation not
for tonal improvement by putting reverse tapers like
Chadash or Moennig barrels.For the same reason they are
made of not natural wood but hard rubber or proprietary
plastic.
5)DEG says there are many professionals who use these
barrels.
6)There seems another barrel named Click.Their length can
be changed easily by clicking.Seems cheaper than DEG.

The DEG barrels and bells are made of dyed aluminum, not hard rubber or plastic as stated in another response. The
barrels can be purchased in the reverse taper like Moennig
design, but also in a standard straight bore in the Buffet
style. The advantage is that the barrels never change in
bore size but the outside coloring does wear off. It is
interesting that Hiroshi doesn't seem to like these metal
barrels, yet is asking that someone manufacture a new metal
clarinet.

By Doug's response,I knew (at last) that they are made of
metal and can be available with reverese tapers.
Frankly,it was ridiculous to assume they are made of woods that have poor thermal conductivity in spite of their purpose to have many fins to promote heat convection.
As to the availability of reverse bored DEGs, I could not have any explanation from the music shop man 10 years ago.But neither did I know the existence of Moennig barrels and they are reverse tapered.Thank you Doug.

Just a little more info on the DEG barrels...the model with
fins has been on the market for several years, but is not
the only model. DEG also makes aluminum barrels that have
a more traditional appearance, the usual outside taper and what appear to be metal rings. There is also a model with
rings and a rounded ending just before the ring area.

I purchased a DEG AccuBore barrel for my A clarinet (which is a Leblanc Lx) and it works great. It makes my sound just a hair flat, but I compensate that. You can buy different length barrels. Mine looks like a standard barrel as Doug described. It's an M66R Eddie Daniels Classic. It's only downside is it takes a little to warm up because it's a little heavy, used to get a dark sound. I play it in symphony.
