Hi folks,
'scuse my ignorance but can anyone please tell me ..........
Is a Selmer Bundy Bb clarinet a wooden one ????
Is it a reasonable make ????
Thanks
Sue
PS
What do you think of the B+H Regent ones for an improving beginner who really would like a wooden horn ?????

Far as I know they're all Resonite (but I once thought all Signets were wood until I saw some in Resonite). They're decent quality horns that'll get you on the right path to clarineting -- you won't be buying one of those junk horns that are now so common. And they're dirt cheap on eBay now.

The Bundy line, while good, is a student grade instrument. If you are looking to replace an instrument that you already have, it would probably be better to get an intermediate instrument by Leblanc, Selmer, Buffet, or Yamaha.
If you go far enough back, there were Bundys that were made of wood. However for the last several decades, they have been plastic. Either way, they were for the student market. Today, Selmer no longer uses Bundy on their instruments.

Thanks for your advice.
Yeah I'm looking for something up from a student one really.
Think I'll look out for a second hand Leblanc, Buffet or Yamaha in good condition.
Thanks
Sue

Just between you and me, I play the new Yamaha wooden intermediate clarinet, model YCL-450, and absolutely love it. Yamaha discontinued their YCL-34 and YCL-52 intermediate model clarinets but you can easily find them on ebay.

There are B+H Regents that are plastic as well as wood and in my opinion much nicer than the Selmer Bundy's. My first clarinet was a plastic Regent one of the last ones before the take over of Buffet. Its a nice beginner's instrument, I played it until just before I did my Grade 8 and still play it occaisionally for outside gigs if it looks wet and I don't want to risk either of my wooden instruments.
I can also recomend the YCL-450, a friend has just acquired one and asked me to try it - a very nice instrument especially at that price.
