My old Buffet keeps getting better and better

I bought an old Buffet Pre R13 from ebay some time ago (some of you may remember, it was serial numberless). When I first got it I could barely get any sound out of it, so I put it away until I could afford to get it overhauled. But I've noticed that periodically when I've taken it out to marvel at it, it plays more and more notes. Just now I was able to play pretty much all the notes that I as a beginner know how to play--and they sounded pretty good to me. Is someone up above favoring me or what???

Perhaps it was very dry at the beginning and every time you took it out and played it for a little bit, the moisture from your breath permeated the wood a little bit more. Not so much that it cracked, but it's been making the wood less dry which is a big effect on how a clarinet plays (the reason we oil them, to keep them from drying out).
