What's your favorite reed case that has the glass that you put reeds on?
i can't figure out whichone to get.
There's the wiseman one that's made of maple. i can't find any good pics of it though. all the ones in catalogs look ugly.
then there's the selmer with the fake leather...
the harris (not harrison) cases look beautiful, the best looking ones i've ever seen (see www.harrisreedcases.com) but they're so expensive...
roger garrett sells some (search for his name and reed cases on google) for pretty cheap....
on wwbw, there are some winter reed cases....
how can i choose????
this is a gift for someone else. i want it to be nice!

I especially like the Wiseman. There is one that holds 5 reeds and one that holds 8. The reeds stay nice and flat. Lately I've just been using the little cases that Vandorens come in because I have a twelve reed rotation and putting twelve of them in a box is easy to carry around (and fits in my case nicely). But yes, Wiseman makes very nice reed cases.

I was given a Wiseman that holds 8 reeds as a present after a recital and it is a wonderful gift that not only does the job beautifully, it also looks fabulous and is very sturdy.
Go the Wiseman! (If you go to his website you can also pick the colour felt you would like in the case.

I use the Selmer. I like the fact that it is light, plexiglass instead of glass, and can hold 10 reeds. As to looks, it does not even try to be faux anything. It is just plan vinyl.
I have it for about six months and am really pleased

I"ve got a selmer reed case that I use for saxophone reeds. Absolutely love it. My only gripe is that the two front latches seem to be on the verge of needing replacement after 6 years of use...actually, they've lasted quite a long time now that I think about it.

Ditto the Wiseman. Each time I open it (lush blue crushed velvet under glass), especially the one I use for alto reeds, I can't help but think "ohhhh". Does a fabulous job with the reeds, too. I've got a plexi/wood Winter that I like less and less over time.

i've tried every single one mentioned above, and more.
the absolute best one (by far!!) i've found is the Takimyetsu reed case from Japan. it is THE best.
i regret immigrating to the US. I never appreciated what i had in japan until i moved here. i miss the technology, the food, everything! everything is so low-tech in the US.

Except for the air-conditioning ... gawd, how I suffered working at the Nissan Tech Center one summer ... No air conditioning in the offices in a sub-tropical climate ...

Uh.. >_<;; I just use the likkle plastic ones that hold one single reed from Vandoren. They work very well, and fit in my case easily. (My Eefer case too, which has like, NO room.)

i was in japan last summer...it was awesome!!! i stayed in a middle-class family's home...it was liek a mansion!!! i have some millioinaire relatvies (that work for walmart) that live in an 8 million dollar house in beverly hills...but slightly inferior to the japanese home!!
it's amazing how far ahead they are.

No, it wasn't. I lived in Japan for 6 years, my wife is Japanese, my children visit every year. A middle-class Japanese home isn't close to being a mansion.
