 A "Sticky" Situation ?
Author: Jas

Hi everybody,

I am cleaning up a friend's R13 and she pointed out some pad cement on the instrument. She said it's from an emergency repair she made before a concert... glued in a pad and some dripped onto the wood... from about six months ago. On plastic clarinets, I usually just scrape it off with my thumb nail, but I'm concerned about doing the same with wood. Does anyone have any ideas on how to safely remove the glue from the instrument?

As always... your help is forever appreciated.

Thanks,
Jas

Well, one wonders first of all what kind of "glue" she used. But, offhand, I would anticipate no problem with the fingernail bit.

It appears to be that brownish standard glue stuff that comes in those kits from "rico".

Acetone usually dissolves glue and other sticky substances--I don't know how this would work against the wood, especially if the wood has some sort of coating.
