Hi folks
Hope many of you have listend to DK's version of the 2nd Mozart Concerto (if not his program notes will explain all) and, even more beautiful, various works by Cartellieri.
His concertos and quartets are out of this world and require truly virtuoso handling. However, I would still like to have a shot at them with my friends.
Only problem: can't find any Cartellieri scores.
Has anyone heard of published scores of music by this compôser (he also wrote a very beautiful flute concerto)?
Failing this, has anyone Dieter Klöcker's email address so I can ask his advice on possible publication in the future?
Thanks anyway and it's great fun reading you all.
By the way, I live near Paris France and take master classes with Gervase de Peyer (when he comes over from London) and Michel Arrignon.
But I'm a self-taught amateur.
Barry

There is no "2nd Clarinet Concerto". The notes, if read carefully, will not ever quite say this. Many of his "discoveries" such as this, while interesting music, have spurious pedigrees.
Klöcker has a wonderful reputation as a player. Not so as a music scholar or historian.

Hello Barry, I recieved your email, but i'm afraid i can't personally help. I do not know Mr. Klöcker, so i would not be of any help there. I have read in the Sneezy Archives that he can be less than forthcomming with information ( Archives ) ; but i cannot imagine any harm in politely requesting the info anyway, you may be lucky and get a helpful answer, (please let us know if you do).
If you are unable to get any further there and if you check his notes carefully, he mentions that the works are "scattered" throughout Europe, in Austrian, former Bohemian (Czech) and private archives. He also gives a very special thanks to Dr. Jana Fojtikova (Director of the Music Library in the Prague National Museum) and Dr. Jitrenka Peskova (Director of the Music Library in the Prague Conservatory). Those would be the places I would check next, they may have some fragments on microfilm or at least information to follow up.... (you should be able to find the addresses by searching the web)... or better, if you are wondering where to go this summer on holidays, Prague is beautiful and a remarkable place to visit.... but take the train or plane, public transportation is very good and parking is a nightmare.
The only Cartellieri scores i've seen on the web are for the Divertimento, probably not what you are looking for, by a German publisher (page is in German, simply type in "Cartellieri" in the "Komponist" field): Accolade
best of luck!
Geoff
