Hi Rob did this one in Birmingham last year at the Adrian Bolt hall, my advice is to learn the notes, then be yourself. Remember that Weber was an opera composer first and foremost this helps especially in the second movement. Did you find the info you needed for the Birmingham conservatoire? Get in touch if yopu want to talk about it

Since you've just started I'll start from the top.
Try fingering the first note;
TR123G#--- and add the 3rd RH trill key (Bb)
It's very stable however loud you want it to be.

jez's fingering idea is good but I also add the right pinky G#/Eb key for more resonance.
Thus making it:
TR 1 2 3 C#/G# + rh side key #3 / - - - G#/Eb
Try both - see which has the best intonation and response on your particular set up.

I'd avoid the "long" F (T R 1 2 3 G# 4 5 6) for the first note, since the tone is a little blarey. Much more (maybe too much) in my original posting, which GBK was kind enough to give.
Best regards.

A final thought for the final notes, which I put in my posting on the Concertino http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=14529&t=14450 but forgot to include in the one for the Concerto.
The final E-F trill is difficult to play quickly with the little finger. Starting the trill slowly lets you use an alternate fingering. Play the first couple of shakes with the little finger, and then switch to the top trill key. Then at the very end, switch back to the standard fingering for a shake or two, put on the essential eingang D (E-F-E-F-E-D-E-F) to end the trill neatly.
Best regards.

Thanks Ken.
Your postings are extremely informative and I found the one on the Concertino invaluable.
You should collect them together so Mark can put them in a special section. What do you think Mark?
Thanks again,
Rob

Ken and I have talked about this before. Right now my plate is too full to do much about this, though ...

Heh TYPICALLY, both of those F's are flat atleast on buffet clarinets. Even though it says fortissimo or forte, I would be very cautious not over blow and bring the pitch up. Remember thats the begining of the concerto and the very first impression the judges or audience will get from you.
Have fun, it's a beautiful piece of music!
