 reed rush...how to prepare :-)

just got a pack of leblanc reed rush. phew...it stinks. how do i prepare reed rush before i use it? I soak it in water then i flatten it?

Reed rush....aka scouring rush....contains silica particles...that is how it works. Wet it with saliva until soft, then gently scrape towards the tip of the reed. It has natural serrations as well.
It was used by hunters etc. to clean pans by the riverside.
