I am curious if anyone out there is also married to a clarinetist (or about to be). How did you meet? Do you play together privately or in ensembles? Do you have multitudes of instruments in your house to drive the kids and/or pets crazy?
I met my husband in a community band in Seattle. He is a Washington State alum and I was at Washington getting my teaching credentials. He would wear his Cougar shirt to rehearsal and I would wear my Husky shirts, which is how we got each other's attention. We like to play clarinets together but don't get a lot of opportunity these days with 2 small children. We do play in a community orchestra in a neighboring town, he on bass, I as the principal. It's great being married to a clarinetist!

My wife (a non-musician) is married to a clarinetist and, I suspect, often wished I played golf or did gardening or whatever, instead. But that's not what you're asking, I guess ---- sorry.

I met my wife in our first year of university (1965) when we both joined the band. She played tenor sax and I played clarinet. Fortunately I also had a tenor sax so that I could switch and sit next to her. It was a successful strategy and in June we will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. My wife gave up the sax long ago, because it aggravated occasional attacks of arthritis, but still likes (she says) to hear me play.

Met my wife as a sophomore in high school in the clarinet section. She was talented but had the good sense to quit, unlike me. Good thing -- somebody had to support us.
