I'm wondering what happened to the Harrison webpage. I heard their ligatures were discontinued. I went to the Harrison-Hurtz web page, but that was under construction. What's going on here?

I like my one H-H ligature, but believe they are hard to find in catalogs etc. The one patent I have found so far is US 3,890,873, of 1975, which describes mine, will look for more. I have read, here, some concern re: breakage of the "split bands" described in the pat! Don

Didn't Mr. Harrison die last year? I think I heard that someone was going to take over the business, but I don't know it for a fact.

In looking further for H-H patents [no more found], I read into the excellently written Gary Smith ligature patent, US 5,398,582 on the USPTO site [full text] and nominated it as an outstanding example on the IBM patent site, congrats, Gary and attorneys, well done! It contains a comprehensive listing of the [musical] ligature prior art up to the 1993 filing date, [of great help to at least a few of us!], in addition to a fine spec and claims. Don

Recently I tried to order a Harrison ligature from IMS on a special sale, and they informed me that they were out of stock and that no more were presently available, with no info supplied as to the latter pursuant to my "Why ?". I note that WW&BW and Muncy show at least one Bb Harrison available in their catalogues (and all the rest for clarinets and sax).

I use a Harrison on an old 2RV and this combo works quite well for me and my 60's Buffet. However if you do manage to score a Harrison lig somewhere, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN it as they will break very easily.
