I've been looking for a way to play along to the Brahms sonatas without the clarinet playing (basically, I'm looking for a CD or tape recording of the piano accompaniment). I will likely be playing a movement of one of the sonatas for a high school competition in New York called NYSSMA, and because I know no one that plays piano I'd be playing it solo (which is fine, but accompaniment would be nice even if I only used it for my personal practicing).
Does anyone know if a CD like this exists, or a similar CD for other clarinet pieces?

P.S. - I was wondering if anyone could help me out with determining the level of the pieces.. NYSSMA is graded on a 1 to 6 level. I have only been playing clarinet for about 8 months, but my teacher assures me I can do a level 4 piece. Do you think the third movement of the first Brahms sonata is about level 4ish? I can play it pretty well, and would like to play this for the competition.

The seller is a good friend of mine, and I personally helped him with the clarinet play along CD's (I helped "proofread" them at no charge)
He has a wider clarinet selection than Music Minus One, and the CD's are first quality. They have practice tempos and performance tempos.
For the less known repertoire he will also do a custom play along CD.
I use these with my students with great success...GBK

Nick...I am a NYSSMA judge, and the Brahms Sonatas are not listed in the current NYSSMA catalog. They used to be on the Grade 6 list but have been pulled. There is a new NYSSMA catalog due out this summer, but I doubt that the Brahms Sonatas will be back in.
If you need some recommended pieces to play which are currently on the Grade 4 list don't hesitate to ask me...GBK

An alternative to music minus one recordings (which vary greatly in quality, IMHO) and other similar ventures is a midi file. You need software that allows you to adjust tempos, and silence tracks. But if you have it (and you already may) you can use your computer as an accompanist. I find that I prefer that approach to MMO. For one thing, the accompaniment is usually clearer.

There are CD's called three tempi play alongs. We have them in the UK.
You get the music and then three recordings of the accompaniment at different speeds to help you build the piece up.

In their advanced section they have:-
C. M. v Weber (1786-1826): Concerto No. 2 for Clarinet in Bb and Orchestra, Op. 74 in E flat Major
C. M. v Weber (1786-1826): Concerto No 1 for Clarinet in Bb and Orchestra Op. 73 in F-minor
C. M. von Weber (1762-1826): Concertino for Clarinet in Bb and Orchestra Op. 26 in Eb-Major
W. A. Mozart (1756-1791): Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra KV 622 in A-Major
J. Brahms (1833-1897): Sonata for Clarinet in Bb and Piano Op. 120 No 1 in F-minor
The concertos have an orchestral accompaniment at the original speed then piano for the two slower speeds.
