 clarinetist as muse to composer

We know the obvious "clarinetist as muse" to composer relationships....
1.Brahms and......
2. Mozart and....
Are there any less obvious/ less well known clarinetists who have served as a muse to a composer?

Weber and Baermann
Mendelssohn and Baermann junior (the early sonata)
Copland and Goodman (but he was paying)
I think composers seem to be more likely to write for clarinet after they meet a clarinetist who inspires them. I mean, almost all composers write for piano and violin but they don't seem to start writing for clarinet until the right clarinetist comes along. Sadly, in many cases this seems to happen fairly near the composer's death. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the clarinet was a young and still developing instrument in the 19th century- the playing level was probably somewhat uneven and composers started writing for clarinet after they heard what they thought to be their ideal clarinet sound.

Just a very unresearched thought. By the way, it was Brahms and Richard Mühlfeld and Mozart and Anton Stadler.

Malcolm Anorld
Darius Milhaud
Bela Bartok

John Corigliano, Stanley Drucker
