Are Gonzalez only sold online? Or are there stores (in Canada) where they can be purchased?

You can purchace Gonzalez F.O.F. Reeds directly from Davie Cane or also from Graham's Music or the Doctor's Products all of whom are Woodwind.org sponsors - check out the prices, and shipping costs of each.

Stores only really CARRY big name stuff. Hence why most retail stores will have things like Vandoren, Vandoren V12, Rico, Rico Royal, and maybe a handful of others. The more obscure, exotic, and less big of sellers (Gonzalez, Rico Grand Select, Vandoren white/black master, good synthetics, etc.) will mostly be found online since retailers don't want all these boxes hogging up space in the store and will generally not stock it. If you want it however, tell your local store and I'm sure that they will be happy to special order it. However you may as well order them and have them delivered to your house . . . .

DavieCane and Doc. Products ship quickly and will offer advise re strength etc. Probably cheaper than a retail store even with shipping.
Be aware, these reeds are different and break in differently and more slowly, but they are definitely worth trying. The trick is to find the perfect strength (not always the same as you are using now) for you....because they are very consistent.

How do they break in "differently"? Does that mean my old breaking in tricks won't work on this reed?

Use them a few minutes, put them aside....next day play again, using the ones u like, repeat process until the stuffiness subsides....then use them as you would any reed....just takes longer to get them going....but they are usually well balanced and consistent.
This is my observation....others may vary.
