Is anyone familiar with the American Brahms Society? Is it worth joining? Is the newsletter high quality? Are any BB participants members of the society?

wjk, dollink, puhleeze do your Googling before you ask.

The first result I got was their website at http://pubpages.unh.edu/~dbmk/abs/ .

If you go down a level to the newsletter http://pubpages.unh.edu/~dbmk/NEWSLETTER.htm , you'll see an obviously scholarly article title, "Shaping Time in Brahms' Vier ernste Gesange" and a link to a sample article http://pubpages.unh.edu/~dbmk/brodbeck.html on Brahms and Schubert.

One of the board members is Styra Avins at Drew University, a Brahms specialist who frequently posts to the American Musicological Society (which I follow). Her name is pretty much a guarantee of scholarly quality.

The membership is $25 per year, $15 for students. http://pubpages.unh.edu/~dbmk/Membership%20Form.htm .

Give it a try and report back.

Best regards.

Ken Shaw
