Hi.
I need info on an old mouthpiece and barrel. First the mouthpiece:
It says Ch Chedeville (hand written in script) Below that PARIS. Above these two, between the ligature lines it says, STEEL EBONITE in quotes. and along the table where the reed sits looks like 2 "C"s superimposed and 90 degrees to each other, after that it says ARTISTIC FACING. Mouthpiece is in almost mint condition.
Next item is a Buffet adjustable barrel. It is wood and looks like any other Buffet wood barrel, except it has a knurled metal wheel in the center, similar to the locking ring on a Bettoney Silva-Bet adjustable barrel. At first I thought it was just a crack repair, so I tried to turn it to see if it was loose and the thing just unscrewed. There is a guide pin that prevents the mouthpiece from turning during adjustment.
Some backround that may help. These items came from a case with a Circa 1907 HP (high pitch) Buffet clarinet and a Buffet "A" clarinet circa 1932. There was an unmarked wood mouthpiece in the case also. They were together in an old double case.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

This mouthpiece is not to be confused with the higher quality Chedeville Lelandais mouthpieces....however, with refacing by an expert may be wonderful!

Anybody know anything about the adjustable barrel? Did Buffet ever make anything like that? Or was it an expensive custom job?
