I have almost all of the Clarinet Classics CDs, except the minimalist ones, since I find that genre unbearable. Otherwise, there's hardly a dud on the list.

Don't miss the historical collections. They have amazing playing, in styles that don't exist anymore.

They're not stocked in many stores, but I've ordered directly from them and gotten quick delivery.

Best regards.

I own a few...they are remarkable
1. The Art of The Clarinettist (2 CD)
2. The Clarinet Vol. 1 & 2

You can even here the scratchy sounds of the recording which makes the listening experiece that much enjoyable on some of the tracks.

You can get them from Qualiton Imports Ltd.

Don't underestimate the technical requirements to play minimalist music! I did a recent concert of Steve Riech's Music for 18 Musicians and found it very rewarding and challenging to play!

David -

Challenging, I can believe. Concentrating on a single phrase for half an hour requires more patience than I can summon. As for reward, it may exist for the player, but certainly doesn't for this listener. Chinese water torture would be better.

I believe I'd have no trouble with delivery.

I was unfamiliar with Clarinet Classics, but you could have swiped me bandy with a cold kipper when I saw their postcode (London England)

And if you want to see the roof, it's also got aerial pictures. But you'd have to be a real anorak to go that far. Like I did...

(And nice to see someone still calls the district Upton Manor. Real 1950s terminology, that. I remember, during the Blitz, blah, etc...)

*that's a zip code, for those viewers wearing the plaid golfing trousers.

I love New York Counterpoint by Steve Reich, so shoot me. If you really want to hear the musical equivelent of watching paint dry, try Violin Phases, but even that gets pretty good after you listen to it 10 or 12 times.

I'd recommend 'Le Jardin Feerique' CC036 for a great use of the full range of instruments from Ab sop to Bb contrabass.
